You can check out our availability using our online booking system. The calendar view option is a great way to find availability if your dates are flexible.

The great thing about our rigs is that you can set up camp just about anywhere! There is a wide variety of options—private campgrounds, federal and state parks campgrounds, or you can boondock at an informal camping area or rest stop.

We suggest taking advantage of a variety of options on your adventure. Private campgrounds are great for the extra amenities they offer—showers, WIFI, and laundry. Federal and state campgrounds offer access to really beautiful and unique areas.

Finally, our favorite option is boondocking—camping in informal campsites, pullouts, gravel bars and other special spots. iOverlander is a website and app that is a great resource of user suggested boondock sites. We also have a number of suggested locations that we are happy to share.

Our vehicles have been custom built for Alaskan adventures and as such they are permitted on all public roads within the State of Alaska and Canada. This includes the Dalton Highway, Denali Highway, Edgerton Highway and Hatcher Pass Road.

Our rentals are not intended to be used off-road and the use of our vehicles in off-road areas is strictly prohibited.

Please verify road conditions in advance of travel—Alaska 511 is the best source for current road status and conditions.

At this time we do not offer one-way rental options. Pickup and return of vehicles is only available in Anchorage.

Our vehicles have seatbelts and seating for up to 5 people while our tents will comfortably sleep 2-4 people depending on the tent configuration. Our 4Runners are a great option for 2-3 people.

For larger groups or families, our Tacomas and Tundras offer more space. We recommend bringing soft sided duffle bags for easier use while on the road. Any additional gear or suitcases that you won't need with you may be stored with us.

Most rigs have awnings which can be used for sun or rain protection. We include bedding in all tents which consists of a fitted sheet on the mattress, a down comforter and down pillows. In spring and fall you may want to add a blanket, light sleeping bag and/or a propane heater if you tend to get cold.

Many of our vehicles have built in water tanks with 12v pumps or gravity fed water faucets. Vehicles with water include: Nenana, Yukon, Togo, Wolverine, Kennicott, Dalton and Kodiak. Base Camp Series vehicles do not have water systems, however we do offer a refillable water jug as an optional add-on.

Yes! All rentals include liability, collision and comprehensive insurance with a deductible of $1000. Additional windshield and tire insurance is available for purchase. A $1500 damage deposit is collected at the start of your rental.

Our rentals are by the day, so you have use of the vehicle all day on your first and last days. You may pickup as early as 8am on your arrival day and the vehicle must be returned by midnight on your departure day.

Due to insurance requirements, all drivers must be 25 years of age and older. Please contact us directly with any questions regarding this policy.

Our Toyota 4Runners have 23 gallon fuel tanks and get approximately 15-17 MPG depending on the type of driving being done. The Toyota Tacomas have a tank size of 21 gallons and get about 18 MPG. Gas is widely available throughout Alaska as long as you fill up in the larger communities as you travel.

We include 150 miles per day calculated as a total for the duration of the rental. Overages are charged at $0.50 per mile. We do offer an optional unlimited mileage package for $25/day.

No, we fully detail the interior and exterior and clean all the camp gear between rentals. Travel on extremely muddy roads (particularly the Dalton Highway) may require additional cleaning and may result in an additional cleaning charge.

The rig is your home away from home for the duration of your stay. We are unable to remove any bolted-on items such as the tent, drawers and fridge. Other items such as stove, tables, chairs and kitchen gear can be customized to your needs.

Our vehicles have limited cargo capacity because of the fridge and included camping gear, as such, we do not allow pets.

Almost all established campgrounds will have toilet facilities and some will have showers. We also offer a portable toilet with disposable bags and a pop up privacy shelter as an add-on option. A strategically planned night at a private campground, hotel or B&B can be a nice way to break things up.

Each month and season has unique attributes! March to mid-April offers longer days with a good chance of Northern Lights. Late April to early June is one of our favorite times as Alaska comes to life. Mid June to mid August is peak season with midnight sun and peak fishing. Late August through September brings fall colors and aurora opportunities. October-April is considered winter camping with a limited fleet outfitted for winter.

We have two vehicles, Kodiak and Dalton, that have heated sleeping quarters. Dalton is suitable for late fall and early spring camping and only Kodiak is fully equipped for winter camping. Travel to areas forecasted to be -25F and colder is not permitted.
